Program Descriptions
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as Food Stamps)
-
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly Food Stamps, supplies EBT cards that can be used just like debit cards to buy nutritious food. For most households, SNAP is only part of the food budget; shoppers must spend some cash along with their SNAP benefit in order to buy enough food for a month. A "household" could be made up of a person living alone or two or more people who live together and buy and prepare meals together.
