- Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)

The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Arizona's Medicaid agency, offers several low or no cost medical coverage programs to Arizona families and children. To participate in these programs, all individuals must be US citizens or qualified non-citizens.
descriptions of each program are provided below:Effective January 1, 2014, Arizona has expanded Medicaid to 133% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
A brief description of each program under AHCCCS is provided below:
- S.O.B.R.A. provides medical coverage, including doctor's office visits, hospitalization, prescriptions, lab work, x-rays, and behavioral health services to low-income pregnant women and children age 18 and younger.
- AHCCCS for Families with Children provides medical coverage, including doctor's office visits, hospitalization, prescriptions, lab work, x-rays, and behavioral health services to families. For a household to qualify, it must have net income below the federal poverty threshold include a child under the age of 18 (or age 18 if the child is a full-time student in secondary school and expects to graduate by age 19.
- The AHCCCS Care program provides medical coverage to low-income individuals and couples, including doctor's office visits, hospitalization, prescriptions, lab work, x-rays, and behavioral health services.
- AHCCCS for Medicare Beneficiaries covers payments of Medicare Part A and/or B premiums, and/or coinsurance and deductibles for qualified elderly.
- AHCCCS for Elderly or People with a disability provides medical coverage, including doctor's office visits, hospitalization, prescriptions, lab work, x-rays, and behavioral health services, and/or nursing and home based services to elderly and individuals with disability.
